It’s time for some gluten-free love on this blog! On this page, you will find links to recipes that are either gluten free already, or can easily be made gluten-free, (for example by replacing breadcrumbs with polenta or by using gluten-free pasta). I’ve asterisked the latter, so if you prefer to follow a recipe to the letter or don’t have a source of gluten-free bread, stick to the un-asterisked recipes.
These recipes are suitable for people with coeliac disease or wheat allergies, and many of them will also be suitable for people with fructose intolerance (page coming shortly).
At the bottom of this page, I’ve listed a handful of recipes which contain oats but are otherwise gluten free. This is because a some people with coeliac disease can in fact tolerate oats, while others can’t. Unfortunately, the only test for this at present is a biopsy, which is not commonly done (because it is quite invasive and often not considered worthwhile). If you are cooking for someone with coeliac disease, please check with them before including oats in a recipe rather than making assumptions.
For more information about coeliac disease, I encourage you to visit the Coeliac Australia website (which, incidentally, also mentions some of the research being done at the Institute where I work! Yay!).
NB: I’ve kept the symbols for all the other dietary requirements on this page, in case you are avoiding other things as well as gluten, but felt that putting a gluten-free symbol next to everything would be a trifle redundant…
NB2: Naturally, there are a lot of cake recipes which you can make gluten-free by using gluten-free flour. I haven’t listed these, because I think you can figure that sort of thing out for yourself, but if you want to move beyond the cakes listed here, feel free to visit my general Cakes and Baking page and go wild.
NB3: And if you do want to make the aforementioned gluteny cakes with gluten-free flour, here, have some recipes for Gluten Free Flour Mix! Many of these really are entirely interchangeable with ordinary wheat flour for most baking purposes, so go wild!

Drinks
Currently all (four!) drinks I have created are gluten-free, and I can’t see myself adding gluteny things to any drinks in the near future – until I do, you can visit the general Drinks index for gluten-free drink ideas.
(Seriously, now I’m wondering what I would possibly want to put in a drink that might contain gluten. The mind boggles…)
