Updates!

I have created three new pages on this blog!

  • Breakfasts – now that I have two whole recipes that really don’t fit well anywhere else, and several more that do sort of belong here, they get a special page to celebrate their morning fabulousness!
  • Vegetarian – really and truly, the overwhelming majority of recipes on this site are vegetarian.  But apparently, more orderly minds than mine find the lack of a vegetarian recipe index distressing (or perhaps just untidy).  They may now rest assured that there is tidiness.  And an index of my vegetarian recipes.
  • Disclosure Policy – this is one of those things that grown-ups are supposed to put on their blog pages.  I’m not a very convincing grown-up, but occasionally I masquerade as one, so…

In addition, I’ve made a couple of rearrangements.  There is now a brief (ha, like I’m ever brief) introduction to the blog on the right hand sidebar of this site, and instead of having a standard blog-roll, the list of blogs I love now links to their most recent post.  This seems like much more fun, at least to me.

Oh, and all the recipe indexes (indices?) are now up to date.  Until I write the next one, that is…

Quick Admin Post

Mostly for my own reference, to note that I just updated all the menu indices again.

New Page: Nut-Free!

Just a quick post to note that I have now indexed all my nut-free recipes on a single page.  This is probably redundant for most of you, as I suspect the chief difficulty with a nut allergy isn’t so much figuring out how to replace nuts in your own baking (Pro Tip: use chocolate chips!), as it is dealing with Stealth Nuts in marinades, frying and cakes when eating out.  And I fear my goddess-like food blogging powers are insufficient to deal with that particular issue.

(can you tell that I’ve spent far too much of the last two days doing Sensible Cleaning / Tidying / Sorting Stuff?  It has an appalling effect on my personality…)

Anyway, useful or otherwise, the index is there now, and we all just have to deal with it and move on.

On a totally un-related note, I have so far received a grand total of zero entries for my Vegetarian Substantial Salads Challenge.  I’m hoping this is because you are all plotting, and not because you all find the idea utterly uninteresting!  Do please note that you don’t have to write a new post for this challenge – if you have a salad recipe lurking in your archives that you think might belong here, please feel free to include it – just make sure you update your old post with the link and icon (and, if you like, the blog hop).

Right.  I’m off to do more Cleaning.

Edited to add: I can’t help feeling that there is a certain irony to the fact that I’m posting about nut-free recipes while being driven utterly nuts myself by this stupid cleaning project…

Bushfires

This time, the really big fires aren’t in my home state, which makes them a little less scary.  For me.  Still, they are pretty horrifying.

I’ve added a link in my sidebar to the donation page for the Australian Red Cross Tasmanian Bushfire Appeal.  If you’re someone who enjoys dropping by and reading what I write, and if you have the money to spare, I’d love it if you’d show your appreciation by making a donation to the Red Cross.  It doesn’t have to be their bushfire appeal, and it doesn’t have to be the Australian Red Cross, either.  They, and the related Red Crescent organisations, do excellent work in many locations, and meet a lot of needs.

And don’t forget – the Red Cross can always use blood and plasma.  If you are healthy and well and not in a forbidden category one way or another, consider taking the time to donate.

It’s something we can do when it really doesn’t feel like there’s much anyone can do.

Thank you.

Catherine

A few handy updates

I have wasted a *remarkable* amount of time this evening trying to create a mobile phone-friendly version of this site that is vaguely useful while not being as ugly as sin.  I believe I have succeeded, though it is a little saddening that I had the choice of beautiful-but-useless or dull-but-at-least-I-can-find-recipes-now.  I am still pining after the beautiful-but-useless layouts.  Maybe I should consider a new blog layout?  I’m fairly sure I could waste an impressive amount of time that way…

I have also added a button to my posts that will allow you to create a print-friendly version of any of my posts.  One of the nice things about it is that you have the option of deleting all the pictures, as well as any extraneous nattering on my part, before printing.  Given that extraneous nattering is more or less my raison d’être, this may or may not be an advantage.

Also, I’ve updated my recipe indexes.

Also, my house is still full of sugar.

Also, I’ve been sick since 11:30 pm on New Year’s Eve, and I’m ready for it to stop now.

And so to bed.

Index and Link Updates

Just in case you were still wandering blindly around my site, trying to find lost pages, I am glad to say that I have now gone through every single page and post on this blog, and believe that all the links are now fixed.  I say ‘believe’, because I have checked everything, but not double-checked everything, due to insuffient hours in the day.  If you do run across something that doesn’t work, do tell me, and I will fix it.

I’ve also updated the Index pages while I was at it.

And so to bed.

Dairy-Free Delights!

I’m still working my way through all my blog posts, but I have now fixed all the Recipe Indexes, including all the dietary requirement ones.

And to celebrate this, allow me to introduce the newest member of the Dietary Requirements Gang – the Dairy-Free page!

Also, in the realm of shameless self-promotion, allow me to point out that over on my music blog, I’m writing about coffee.  Or at least, about Bach writing about caffeine addiction, with links to some people singing all about it…

(I’m sure Lieschen takes her coffee black…)

This time last year:

Shakespeare Cooking: Pericles!

Not really here

Hi again,

I know it looks like I’m back, but I have, in fact, wound up doing this manually so that there is some content – any content! – here, and the result is that every single internal link on this blog is broken.  So guess what I’ll be doing this week?

So, my apologies if you click on something and get a ‘page not found’ sign.  I’m working on it, I promise.  I’ll let you know once things are back to what passes for normal.

1:42 pm – OK, I’ve got the Feasts and Fancies page working, so you can click on all my pretties while you are waiting for the real content to re-align itself!

5:36 pm – And now the Drinks and Sweetmeats pages are also both OK (yes, I’m doing the shorter pages first!), as is everything I’ve posted in September or October.  Go click on your favourite recipes and make these pages feel loved!

Here goes nothing…

Sorry about the dearth of posts.  I’ve been sick this week, and the best things I’ve cooked have all been the sort of re-invented leftovers that are difficult to blog about (I will endeavour to do so, however).

Anyway, this is just a notice that I’m about to try transferring my site to a new web-host.  I’m rather terrified that the whole blog will disappear if I do this, and it does seem likely there will be down-time, so cross your fingers for me!

I’ll cook for you again soon…

love,

Catherine

The Vegan Recipe Index Page is Live!

Right here.

And I am going to BED, for I have much singing to do tomorrow, and staying up to make more recipe indexes would be absolutely crazy.

(But first, I think I deserve a slice of gluten-free chocolate and marsala cake, don’t you?)
